Zeal for the deal pushes House, Senate compromise on commercial cannabis - VT Digger

In the interests of passing a commercial cannabis bill, the Senate is okay with the House demand that towns “opt in” before commercial operations can begin. And the House is releasing its demand that police be allowed to pull over drivers not wearing seat belts. Differences over taxation and revenue remain.

"Negotiations will continue this week and are expected to focus on how marijuana, and Vermont’s new marijuana industry, would be taxed. Under the current tax structure that both chambers have agreed on, marijuana sales would be subject to a 14% excise tax and a 6% sales tax.."
