Ahead of schedule, Vermont Yankee cooling towers come down

About six months ahead of schedule, the cooling towers of Vermont Yankee were torn down as part of the decommissioning of Vermont's only nuclear power plant, which closed in 2014. 

 

"Demolition crews from NorthStar Nuclear Decommissioning made short work Thursday of Vermont Yankee's east cooling tower, and the New York City industrial demolition company said during a tour of the site that it was at least six months ahead of schedule in the plant's decommissioning."
