13 Vermont State Police officers are now trained as drone pilots. The high-flying devices will be used for investigatory purposes. Maybe looking for illegal marijuana fields out in the woods?
"Trooper Tom Howard says the drones can map in minutes what have taken hours, meaning less time for a crash reconstruction team at a crash site.The drones were used to help reconstruction an accident last week in Rutland. And with tools like thermal imaging cameras, the drones could help save lives on rescue missions.
Troopers say they could also aid in criminal investigations, but Lozier says the drones will not be used for warrantless searches."
