Vermont has the lowest unemployment in the country, but it’s not adding many new jobs, either.
"The state unemployment rate came in at 2.2% in October, unchanged from the previous month and down from 2.6 percent in October 2018, according to the state Department of Labor. The state unemployment rate is below the national average of 3.6 percent. “Help Wanted” signs are up, but Vermont added fewer jobs than expected in 2016. “This month’s Jobs Report shows a continuation of the unprecedented low unemployment rate, prolonging the struggle for employers," said Acting Labor Commissioner Michael Harrington, in a press release by the Vermont Department of Labor.
