Vermont illegal immigrants want a piece of the recovery pie - VPR

Many of the workers who milk cows and pick crops are in Vermont illegally. Still, their work is more essential than ever - why shouldn’t they get some of that federal recovery moolah?

"Setbacks in the dairy industry have meant a loss of jobs, income and even housing for the immigrant workers that keep many farms running. But they’ve been excluded, by virtue of their citizenship status, from the federal stimulus checks, unemployment payments and pandemic unemployment assistance that have helped keep other newly jobless Vermonters afloat. “We come to this country to be able to work, not with the idea of doing anything bad, just to contribute. And during these times in particular, we’ve seen that we’re essential, they call us essential, and we want that to always be respected,” said a farm worker named Uriel. “And we’ve seen they’ve created a fund for the community, but unfortunately we’ve been excluded from that fund.”"

if this story stays buried in the caverns of the VPR wasteland that is one thing,, but if it sees daylight on the Papers, AP, and the 3 local TV stations,
it could be game , set, match for these illegals and that is horribly wrong at every level. What"s next? non citizen voting ? too late, its already happening with efforts around the State.
This is the time to call /talk you your city councils and select board chairs
and especially the 3 amigos in our federal delegation

Illegal aliens should be deported. I cannot imagine any other sane country giving me benefits where I was illegally present. Vermont is already supporting illegals and eventually, I hope, will be called out by the feds.

Because (y)our government both parties want ‘em here and we don’t have a say in the legislation, nor its interpretation, let alone the distribution of the moneys the USG has borrowed to mitigate a crisis they created.

    We’re just cash cows sir.

Personally, I think these indigenous people are killing the golden goose by attempting to come out of the shadows!

Does anyone understand the meaning of the word “illegal”? Why should I bear the burden of the costs of people who are here illegally?
