The Amtrak Vermonter passenger train hit a tree laying across the tracks in Claremont, NH, stranding passengers for hours. No-one was injured.
Amtrak officials Tuesday said the approximately 175 passengers onboard were delayed for over five and-a-half hours. Officials say another train was sent to rescue the train and bring it back to Springfield. Eventually, train 55 continued on its way to Washington D.C. The collision threw Amtrak's Tuesday schedule into disarray. Now, train 54, which is scheduled to depart Washington, will terminate in Springfield.
