Non-tenured teachers at UVM are being asked to lose a quarter of their pay, while deans would lose just eight percent. You don’t need to be a statistician to know those figures don’t add up, the wife of a lecturer writes in a letter protesting the cost-cutting measures.
"An email went out to UVM faculty outlining expected pay reductions, according to a post on Medium by Joanna Grossman, whose husband is a lecturer. The email, dated April 27 and addressed to the university's Arts and Sciences department, indicates non-tenure track faculty are meant to work at three-quarters of their full-time equivalency, reducing their course loads—and their pay—by 25%. By comparison, deans are expected to take an 8.3% salary reduction. "
