UVM offers student interns to Vermont Legislature, again - VT Digger

UVM plans to re-start a legislative intern program for Vermont legislators, who ‘suffer’ from a lack of staff support - only 100 staffers for 180 legislators, with the Speaker of the House and the Senate Pro Tem having their own, dedicated assistants. (Each committee has an admin as well.) The original plan folded in 2013 due to lack of funding.

"Rep. Lucy Rogers (D-Waterville/Cambridge), a recent UVM graduate, said she believes the program will be “mutually beneficial” for students and legislators. “When I was in college, I learned very strong research skills but lacked the opportunity to apply them to real problems in my state,” she said. “I could have benefitted from a program like this.”
