Swanton constable resigns after wearing Confederate flag mask to public meeting - VT Digger

The new Covid-19 rules say you must wear a mask in public. The Swanton animal control officer wore one with a Confederate flag logo to a selectboard meeting in June. Now he’s in the doghouse.

The employee, Derick Billado, the animal control officer and first constable, resigned this month after wearing a Confederate flag mask to a June selectboard meeting, which triggered a slew of citizen complaints. In protest and solidarity, Billado’s parents, who also worked for the town, stepped down.

    Heaven forbid we might allow free speech in Swanton. It’s not as if people of the Confederacy have any history which might be relevant to our country’s history. Erasing all history which doesn’t agree with the current narrative accomplishes nothing. Going to a communist form of government will accomplish a lot….and none of it good.
