Springfield first town to OK driverless vehicles - Eagle-Times

The town of Springfield became the first Vermont municipality to officially allow testing of automated (driverless) vehicles, as part of a state research program. Will Springfield’s driverless vehicles mean more human freedom and safety - or clueless computers crashing cars in Bart Simpson’s namesake hometown? Doh!

“To the Springfield Selectboard, welcoming automated vehicle testing represents a symbolic step forward for the town as it hopes to become a major economic hub for digital technology and entrepreneurship."
