Brattleboro kids to skip school on next Friday's Climate Strike - Brattleboro Reformer

Middle school and high school students in Brattleboro will skip school next Friday to go to the local park and sing, chant and speechify on behalf of the Climate Strike. What would Greta do?

"September's climate strikes continue a worldwide campaign by schoolchildren calling on adults to step up, speak out, and do their share to protect current and future generations against the worst impacts of global warming. Thunberg, who recently journeyed to the U.S. on a solar-powered sailboat and who will speak to a United Nations climate conference of Sept. 23, started the movement by skipping school on Fridays to protest inaction on climate change."

The 1960/70s, Vietnam, as you said Guy, if this behavior were acceptable for children back then, you would have more likely then not seen protests against, and for the war. I remember well that there were teachers, and students on both sides of the issue, but the teachers did not try to influence students in their attempt to make informed decisions for themselves. Now the Liberal slant is so overwhelming in public education, and the apathy, if not acceptance of this condition is so common, that the outcome of this indoctrination is of little doubt. I really admire those that in spite of this stacked deck, come away with a differing (their own) opinion. Just recently an example of trend bucking high school students actually got a little attention when after the Parkland shooting a few of the students spoke up against the obligatory gun control rants that happened. The student that was the spokes person for this “anti-gun control” group was very articulate, but you could tell he was uncomfortable (scared) about the reaction to his differing opinion. That says a lot when a high school student had to consider whether he maybe verbally or maybe even physically assaulted for taking an opposing position on a political belief.

I know, right? Woulda been a lot of us protesting against the war in Vietnam if it would have gotten us out of class. Or for it, for that matter.

Man, where were these protest when I was in school ? I wouldn’t have cared what they are about. It’s going to get me out of school ? Where do I sign up ? Seriously though, if something like this had of happened when I was a kid my parents would have been at the school so quick to ask the teachers what the hay they thought they were doing imparting their political twists on social engineering to their piece of the next generation. Some things should be left to the parents to educate their kids about. Teachers should stay to hell out of politics, and non factual life teaching experiences (opinions) and stick to reading, writing, arithmetic, and the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about history !

We used to call this BRAIN WASHING when the enemy did it to our prisoners of war. We hoped they had the strength to resist.
I guess it is even EASIER to do it to the 10 year olds. Too bad we have to pay these administrators and teachers to poison our kids minds. 60 years ago was the coming ICE AGE, but that was taught lightly, and without fear mongering.
Will be all die by ice or fire. Age old question
