Scott would appoint independent to fill Sanders’ seat - Seven Days

Party hacks will be disappointed - if Sen. Bernie Sanders becomes Pres. Sanders, Gov. Phil Scott will name an independent to fill his seat in the U.S. Senate. Our next senator would be someone who isn’t seeking to become our next senator.

"Scott, a Republican, said he would abide by Vermont's tradition of naming a replacement from the same party as the outgoing officeholder — in Sanders' case, an independent. Exactly, Sanders is an independent “Marxist” not a democrat. You would have thought the Dems would have learned their lesson in 2016. After he got his camp on the lake he left them and went back to his so called independent status. He played them for chumps twice. They never should have let him compete with them.
