Scott, Levine sound bullish on flattened curve, economic reopening - WCAX

For perhaps the first time, both Gov. Phil Scott and Health Commissioner Mark Levine sounded at a press conference that Vermont may be at the beginning of the end of the worst of the spring 2020 coronavirus pandemic. But it’s still ‘proceed with caution.’

"The Vermont Health Department reported eight more people tested positive for the coronavirus over the weekend for a total of 940 cases. One additional death was reported, bringing the state’s total to 54. The state saw just 15 new cases last week and no new positive cases Sunday, even though about 700 tests were conducted. Scott said despite those promising numbers, neighboring states continue to see a number of new cases. That's why he says Vermont will continue to move cautiously on reopening the state's economy. Health officials pointed to recent parties in Clinton County, New York, that are being blamed for a doubling of positive COVID-19 cases there.”
