Gov. Scott will tell the Legislature today how he hopes to grow the Vermont economy, fight climate change, and expand access to housing, all on a tax base that is declining in numbers.
"Scott is due to address a joint session of the Vermont House and Senate on Tuesday at the Statehouse in Montpelier. He is expected to suggest ways to pay for some of the proposals he made in his State of the State address from earlier this month, such as a universal after school program, affordable housing and investments in electric vehicles. During his earlier speech, Scott reiterated his long-standing call to rescue Vermont from a demographic crisis that is preventing much of the state from growing while the tax base shrinks.
