Despite two contentious landmark laws concentrating power in Montpelier to supposedly give students of all economic backgrounds an equal education, a VT Digger study shows that rich kids still get the best teachers – most of the time. Should Montpelier back off on centralized education reform, or double-down?
"Though the data doesn’t show a perfect linear relationship, there is a clear trend. The best-paid teachers – many clustered in Chittenden County – are generally found in the districts with the lowest concentrations of poverty."
