Why are people leaving Vermont? And where are they going? - VT Digger

Low and middle-income Vermonters are voting with their feet and moving to more affordable states with better economic opportunity for them and their families. One reason of many: VT ranks 11th highest in taxes, but 32nd in job growth. 

"High earners moving here saw their incomes decline 22% on average the year after the move, according to the JFO. That could be because they’re cashing out an asset, like a mortgage, or it could be due to Vermont’s relatively low income compared to Northeast states."

    Let’s see, yup there is the taxes, and low pay, but ya know it would not surprise me if a lot of people are leaving because of the political atmosphere. Let’s face it, Vermont is not the same state as it was when George Aiken was around. With all the newly naturalized citizens that have brought their politics with them, this state has turned into a liberal cesspool.

    Republican lawmakers have been sounding the alarm here for years if not decades, but those in the majority choose to ignore the reality. Maybe people are finally waking up.

    Let’s see the State is in Debt, unfunded liabilities, taxes out of control
    no real career paths except "Medical, Schools, Government " jobs…..

    And you have to ask why ???
