Burlington commuter highway planned in 1965 to begin construction 'in the next year' - VT Digger

It was 1965, the year the upstart Minnesota Twins defeated the LA Dodgers in the World Series, the War in Vietnam was just heating up, and the manned lunar landing was still four years away, that someone optimistically drew up the plans for the Burlington's Champlain Parkway. 

 

"After more than half a century of planning, consideration and obstacles, construction on the $46 million Champlain Parkway is expected to break ground in the next year."
