Panel warns against health, youth addiction impacts of commercial cannabis – WPTZ

Attorney General TJ Donovan thinks it’s time to tax and regulate marijuana, but health experts say it won’t stop ‘vaping’ injuries and will lead to increased mental illness among youth.

"Experts are also worried marijuana use among kids and teenagers will go up. Local psychiatrist Dr. David Rettew says marijuana can make children paranoid and hallucinate. “The problem is when you get paranoid, you think people are out to get you and then you try to defend yourself and that can sometimes lead to aggression toward other people,” Rettew explained. Health officials also have concerns about adults consuming too much marijuana and driving while high. They say marijuana causes people to have delayed reactions and that could be dangerous especially on ice, rural Vermont roads.
