Opinion: stand up to ignorant peer pressure about pandemic - County Courier

It’s hard for a smalltown newspaper publisher to tell an elderly nursing home worker to her face that her opposition to masks and social distancing is just plain stupid.

“This morning I was in a local business, and I overheard an older lady talking about the pandemic. She was upset about the new protocols put in place and how it is affecting everyday life. “I’m over 60, and I work at a nursing home,” she told the clerk, “And I think this is all stupid.” Sadly, I did not stand up to her beliefs, and sadly, she needed that the most. Next time I’ll use positive peer pressure to set the record straight. I should have today, and I’ve decided to correct the next person who is disregarding the public health threat. Just because they think it’s “stupid.”"

I’m not sure anyone really knows how this thing is being passed around and who’s getting it. The Manchester snafu is very concerning. Are we a state, a nation of false positives?

Stupid is as stupid does. Look at what virologists wear to protect themselves when they are working in the lab. Then say “Yeah, my bandanna should work, too.”

World War II was the deadliest military conflict in history. An estimated total of 70–85 million people perished,
we currently have 603,000 dead from covid worldwide , hardly a comparison.
It would be wise not to take the WHO forecast models seriously
