During a drug-related investigation, Rutland police fired at a car and appear to have seriously injured the driver, who is recovering in intensive care.
"Authorities say Rutland City Police were doing a narcotics investigation on Terrill Street around 12:15 a.m. Wednesday involving a car with two men and that officers fired at the car. It's still not clear what led up to the shooting and how many officers were involved. The shooting led to a half-mile chase south on Route 7 until the car crashed into a tree near the intersection of Main Street and Jackson Avenue. The driver of the car was wounded by gunshots and sent to the hospital and is recovering in intensive care. The passenger was also injured in the crash and had to be brought up to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.”
