Talk about being thrown into the battle - UVM nursing students of the class of 2020 will be graduated early and then sent right to work treating patients in the midst of the Covid-19 epidemic.
"All 95 members of the senior class will graduate on May 1st. Vermont's State Board of Nursing will offer students temporary permits so they can begin staffing hospitals and other health care facilities immediately after they graduate. About half of UVM nursing graduates typically stay in Vermont. Kathryn Calisti, a graduating student, says deciding whether or not to start a new job during a pandemic was difficult but important to do.”
