New power cable project would run length of Lake Champlain - The Sun

A high-voltage transmission line on the New York side of Lake Champlain would - if completed - bring millions of dollars of benefits to New York communities, and enough Canadian hydropower for a million southern NY homes. A similar project on the Vermont side appears to have been sidelined by New England power authorities.

“The line, known as the Champlain Hudson Express Project, would be spooled onto the bed of Lake Champlain off of the New York shore. The project proposes a payment in lieu of taxes to the towns, county and school boards, which could add tens of thousands of dollars to budgets where such a sum could make a meaningful difference."
