Increase number of police, Burlington police commission says - WPTZ

Even if the City Council agrees, the lengthy hiring and training process will mean Burlington police may not be able to cover early morning shifts with active patrols.

"The city’s police commission voted 5-1 Tuesday night to propose, changing the original cap from 74 officers to 82. Acting Chief Jon Murad says the department could see officer levels drop below 74 by fall because of the lengthy hiring process."
