Homeowners being notified about fuel tank inspections – Caledonian-Record

A 2017 Vermont law requires inspection of all home heating oil fuel tanks. Tanks that don’t pass may need to be replaced. Notification for the latest round of inspections just went out, and the Caledonian-Record reports that some Northeast Kingdom residents aren’t happy.

A tank that fails the minimum standards will be red-tagged and cannot be filled by a dealer until the problem is repaired. That could range from a simple problem with a pipe connection or the need for a vent alarm, to unstable supports, or a tank that is leaking already.
