"With restaurants forced to close and guidelines for farmers markets up in the air, many farmers have doubled down on self-sufficiency; they've shifted to direct-to-consumer sales and reinvented their farmstands. Alissa Matthews, agriculture development specialist for the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets, has noticed an increase in individual farms and farm collectives thinking creatively about direct sales."I'm so impressed, but I'm not surprised," she said.
