Demand for heating assistance on rise as funding for tank replacement dwindles - WPTZ

Demand is especially high for heating fuel financial assistance this year, due to the pandemic. What’s more, the financial assistance to replace the 1600 “red tagged” fuel tanks has run out.

"Cota said most of the 111,000 tanks in the state have passed inspection, but there are more than 1,600 tanks that have been "red-tagged", meaning they can't be filled until they're fixed. The Vermont Fuel Dealers Association received a $300,000 grant to offer $200 rebates to Vermonters who needed tank replacements, but Cota said the money has run out."

    I guess when we paid $3000 for “tank replacement”, nobody had $200 to “help” us.
