Copeland-Hanzas drops Speaker bid, backs Krowinski - VT Digger

For the second time, climate change/legal marijuana warrior Sarah Copeland-Hanzas has been passed over for the top job in the Vermont State House. She wanted to be Speaker when Mitzi Johnson got the job; now she has conceded the 2021 position to former Planned Parenthood exec Jill Krowinski. Rural advocate Charlie Kimbell is still in the race.

"In an email to House Democrats last week, Copeland Hanzas said that her “conclusion” after speaking with members of her party is that the “strongest leader for the House in the coming biennium is Jill Krowinski…..Jill has demonstrated time and again her dedication to the success of our caucus, and she has put her head and heart into that work,” Copeland Hanzas wrote."
