The Town of Brattleboro approved a budget without defunding police.
"The board, like other governing bodies that did not have a spending plan approved before the coronavirus pandemic put limits on gathering sizes, was given special authority from the Vermont Legislature to adopt the budget this year. Annual Representative Town Meeting in March was postponed due to the virus but town officials are looking at alternative ways of hosting the meeting where the budget might be ratified and other items would be considered. In a 3-2 vote Tuesday, the budget was adopted after more than two hours of discussion on the subject. Board members Brandie Starr and Ian Goodnow cast the dissenting votes."
