Bill banning menthol cigarettes, flavored tobacco introduced – Associated Press

Menthol cigarettes and other flavored tobacco products will be illegal to sell in Vermont if a bill introduced into the House this week passes into law. A similar bill was introduced into the Senate earlier this session.

"According to Wikipedia: “In the United States, menthols comprise about 30% of the total cigarette market. Menthol cigarettes are purchased disproportionately by African-American smokers, with 80% of African-American smokers consuming menthol cigarettes primarily.” The legislation would ban menthol cigarettes and vape juice flavors such as mint, mango and cinnamon. A version of the bill was introduced Tuesday in the House. A Senate version was introduced Jan. 15. The ban would also limit vape-liquid options so they had the taste and smell of tobacco.
