KC Myers had lapsed back into his illegal drug use habit when he committed the crime, police say.
"Authorities believe KC Myers, 36, of Rutland, broke into the house of Gloria and Edward Myers while the elderly couple was out camping last summer. Police found droplets of blood inside their house, such as on the shattered glass of a window, the door of their gun cabinet and its smashed glass pane. A shotgun and a muzzleloader were taken. DNA from the droplets of blood matched that of KC Myers, according to Vermont State Police, who investigated the case. KC Myers was charged with burglary into an occupied dwelling."
