Barre man who threatened to burn down Hispanic neighbors’ home released with ‘time served’ - VT Digger

A man being held for the first-ever federal hate crime charge in Vermont was sentenced and released with “credit for time served.” 

"According to court filings, Rollins threatened in July 2019 to burn down the family’s home while they were inside because of their race and national origin, and because they lived across the road from him. All but one member of that family is Hispanic. Rollins is white. Rollins also shouted racial and ethnic slurs at the family, yelling at them to “go back to Mexico,” according to court filings, and exposed himself to one of the family’s children."
