The U.S. - Canadian border will stay closed to non-essential traffic for at least another month. That means no Canadian shoppers in Vermont stores.
"It makes the reopening process more challenging for many of the businesses that over the next several weeks will be starting to reopen, because they're going to be missing in that early stage what would normally be a key part in their business," said Douglas. "That’s profoundly sad, but it’s also a reminder for all of us to never again take for granted this special cross-border connection that we all enjoy.” Patty Waldron, owner of Koffee Kat in Plattsburgh, hopes it won't get too quiet in her coffee shop, as college students have left even earlier than expected this year for remote learning."
