$100 million and 23 years later, no Amtrak from Rutland to Burlington - VPR

In the latest installment of "Did It Work?", its outstanding series on whether renewable energy-related projects in Vermont are working, VPR studies the proposed Burlington - Rutland commuter rail project. Perhaps it should be called Am-NOT-ON-trak. Well, maybe the $7 million or so allocated by the Legislature will fix that......

"The plan [in 1996]? Build a passenger line from Burlington, down through Middlebury, Rutland, Manchester, Bennington and on to Albany. [Sen. James] Jeffords started hauling in federal money to make it happen."
