Vermont Public Safety Commissioner Michael Schirling and Vermont Attorney General TJ Donovan Thursday presented to lawmakers a list of 10 recommendations to remove systemic racism from policing statewide.
"A list of ten recommendations that include a requirement that all police in Vermont wear body cameras was presented to the lawmakers Thursday, but officials and community advocates say it’s just the starting point for a larger conversation on reform. The proposal also includes a statewide use-of-force policy. Michael Schirling, commissioner of the Vermont Department of Public Safety, said there has been a lot of collaboration on the recommendations between state agencies and representatives of the Fair and Impartial Policing Committee."
