After brief in-person meeting, Legislature to go remote in 2021 - Seven Days

According to a plan made by the Joint Rules Committee, the Legislature will meet for an hour or two on the first day of the session, elect officers, and then go to Zoom meetings for most if not all of the 2021 session.

"Though many details have yet to be worked out, the House currently plans to convene January 6 at the Barre Auditorium. Legislators will be sworn in, elect a new speaker and clerk, and approve the rules of the House. The venue was chosen because it is among the largest in the state and can safely accommodate all 150 members of the House, even at a social distance. Nevertheless, members will be given the opportunity to participate remotely, outgoing House Speaker Mitzi Johnson (D-South Hero) said at Tuesday's meeting."
