A day before major police reform hearings, powerful Vermont lobbyists issue a call to weaken the power of Vermont police to enforce the law. Will Vermonters respond?
“Tomorrow, Thursday Aug. 6 at 1 pm, the House Committees on Judiciary and Government Operations will hold the first of its three virtual Public Hearings on Police Reform. From these hearings will almost certainly flow new bills and possibly laws cracking down on the rights, effectiveness, and funding of Vermont police. All Vermonters are welcome to testify for up to two minutes, and can sign up at the following link. The meetings will be livestreamed. (Say what you want about Zoom – during the two allotted minutes, anti-police protesters can’t drown out the speakers.)"
