“Red tag” fuel tank law may leave Vermonters in the cold - VT Digger

Hundreds of Vermonters with ‘red-tagged’ fuel tanks that failed a mandatory state inspection are not permitted to buy fuel to heat their homes. Meanwhile there’s just not enough manpower to repair old tanks or install new ones. Work is being scheduled into December and the list of ‘red tagged’ homes continues to grow. Brrr!

"More than 650 Vermonters’ tanks have been red-tagged since Aug. 1 and are still awaiting repair or replacement, according to a public list updated daily by the Waste Management and Prevention Division of the Department of Environmental Conservation. On Tuesday alone, the state added nine fuel tanks to the list."
