Lenny Roberge was four years old when the Spanish flu killed millions of people worldwide.
"I should have worn my Navy hat because that's what (makes me) feel best," said Roberge, who wore a crown on his head. More than a dozen people gathered outside the vibrantly decorated Allenwood senior living community in South Burlington to wish Roberge, Vermont's oldest veteran, a happy 106th birthday. "We only have one birthday a year, it's a good thing," he said. He's had quite a year. He's living through his second pandemic. Roberge was four years old when the Spanish flu sickened millions of people in 1918."
